Q. Where did you get my contact details?
A. This will depend on the type of study you have been asked to participate in. Your details will be from one of the following sources:
- The BMRB respondent database –You will be part of our respondent database if you have taken part in a previous study for BMRB and given your consent for us to contact you again for future research.
- Client list – If BMRB is conducting the research on behalf of a client company, the company may have provided us with your details from their own company database. They can only do this if you have agreed previously for them to use your details in this way.
- Government database – If BMRB is conducting the research of behalf of a government department or agency then your details may have been provided from an official government database.
- Random Digit Dialling (RDD) – For telephone surveys we may use a system where telephone numbers are generated at random by a computer programme. This is to ensure that we call a representative sample of people. In this way we may have contacted you by phone even if you are ex-directory. Please note that genuine market research is exempt from the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), so we may have contacted you by phone even if you have registered to opt out of sales and marketing telephone calls.
- List broker – Sometimes BMRB will purchase sample from a third-party list broker (a company that provides lists of contacts).
